Hi! I am quite new to Virtual box and have tried to install Windows Vista on my MacBook Air. Since the Air does not have a DVD drive, I am using an external one. When I click start Virtual Machine, it brings me to the first start wizard to choose the install media. When I select my external hard drive as the install media, it closes the virtual machine and brings up this error message:
Failed to open a session for the virtual machine Windows Vista.
PIIX3 can not attach drive to the Secondary Master
(VERR_GENERAL_FAILURE).
If I click on details it says this:
Result Code: NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005)
Component: Console
Interface: IConsole {db7ab4ca-2a3f-4183-9243-c1208da92392}
Can you help me fix my problem?
Thanks!

Re: PIIX3 ERROR
It's usually more reliable to make a ISO/DMG image of the Vista setup DVD and mount that in the VM using the Storage settings. Others have reported strange problems accessing removable optical drives on Mac hosts.
