Using a usb web cam on Ubuntu 12.04

Hi:
For the past few days I've been working with the good people on this forum to sove my problem of using a Logitech Web cam on my Linux guest, where VBox is running on a Mac OS-X host. Orignally, the web cam was not captured by the guest OS and a thread was generated to explain my problem (see https://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=54625) but, with the help of ChipMck I was able to have the camera be captured and recognized by Linux. But still, I can't use it, for some unknown reason. ChipMck suggested that it could be a driver problem within Linux and told me to open a post on this sub-forum. But, I'm not sure. I've used this same camera on another machine with Ubuntu 12.04 (not virtualized) and it has been working flawlessly. So, I'm open to any suggestions you could give to solve this problem. Thanks.

I don't see how we can advise you on the availability of Linux drivers for your WebCam. It seems to me you should check with the manufacturer, and/or check on a Linux website.

Sounds like the guest OS does not have proper drivers and/or applications for the device.
From your postings the guest is a Linux - not on my knowledge list.
Suggest you pursue in a new post in the world of Linux, like the VBox Linux Guest forum
or another internet site devoted to Linux.

Maybe I misunderstood you, but I thought you were suggesting to look for a driver for the cam and/or post a new thread on the Linux guest sub-forum. That I did. Unfortunately Logitech doesn't have a Linux version driver for the camera ( to the best of my knowledge) and it seems that the UVC driver that comes with Linux is not working on a virtualized environment. Hope you people to enlighten me. Thanks.
