hello. I have a macmini with mountain lion 10.8.3 as a host and windows 8 as a guest in vb.
im trying to see an external hdd in win8 but I cannot.
is there any way to do that?
secondly I have troubles with the screen resolution. it is not that pretty and it is very annoying after a while.
it is shaking and is a bit blur.
is there a way to fix this as well? I use a Philips 226vl led screen.
for the record im totally new.
thank you in advance!

Re: external hdd and resolution
WRT your external disk not being recognized by the guest, have you:
1). Installed the VirtualBox Extension Pack to support USB attachments?
2). Set up a USB filter for your external Drive?
3). Unmounted/Ejected the external drive from MacOS X?
4). Installed the Guest Additions?
Once you have Ejected your external Drive from MacOS X, if you click on the Virtual USB icon on the lower right VBox screen edge, it should allow VBox to grab the USB drive. Then the Windows Guest should be able to see it.
I am not sure about your resolution problem, but if you have not installed the Guest Additions, this could only help.
