Dear all,
I installed a guest Leopard 10.6.3 in a virtualbox 4.2.10 on a Leopard 10.6.8 host.
I finally manage to make it work ... at least start.
The problem I'm facing is that from time to time the guest OSX screen greys and I get a multilingual message saying "you need to restart your computer"
I've not been able to identify any action or delay for this to happend becaus e it sometimes even happens at boot or when doing nothing in the VM. The only thing I could say is that it seems to happens more often when there is a disk access.
I read a lot of thing regarding the OSX compatibility and Since I'm running an OSX guest on a OSX host on a genuine iMac 3.06 Ghz intel Core due 2 with 4GB 1067 Mhz DDR3.
Does anyone have an idea that could help me fix the problem and make it stable ?
Notice the goal is to help a friend who updated his Mac to Lion. He was not aware he was running a PowerPc application which does not work anymore on the Lion OS.
I'm testing the solution and then I will install it on his machine allowing him to continue to use the PowerPc application on the virtual 10.6.3 OSX.
Thank you in advance for your help and advices.
kind regards,
OSX guest on OSX Host unexpected shutdown
Re: OSX guest on OSX Host unexpected shutdown
Hello..
I'm trying to do what your friend wants, ie: run Snow Leopard (10.6.3) in Virtualbox (4.2.10) on a MacBook
Pro running Mountain Lion (10.8.3) in order to continue to use older software.
I'm afraid I don't have your answer, but have not even gotten SL to boot up in VB yet. It drops me into UEFI?
Can you tell me how you got it running at all, please?
Thanks for the help

Re: OSX guest on OSX Host unexpected shutdown
I don't know about the more recent versions of VB because I haven't updated to them, but in earlier versions of VB (after 4.0.16) OS X guests would only work if you chose "Mac OS X Server (64 bit)" as the Version of the Mac OS X in the General settings.
