I've tried setting up a DHCP server, I did it successfully. However Windows 7 (yea, protocol's compatible with it) doesn't get an IP whether configured or not. The server is running.

2008 is Bridged Adapter, Windows 7 is Internal Network. Internet connection is present on Windows 2008.

Ask any questions if you want, as a few hours of debugging didn't help.

Is the 2008 server the host and does it also have an internal adapter set to the same name as the guest?

It is and I'm not sure what you mean by the internal adapter set to the same name as the guest. Do you mean that I have to set the internal adapter of WIndows 7 to the same name as I name 2008, for example "2008SERVER?"

No. Just that the name of the internal network needs to be the same for both machines. If the names of the networks are different, they will be in different networks.

Why do I need to set internal network for both machines? I'm new to networking, but as I understood it, the bridged adapter resembles a switch and if there's a switch connected to that machine... Well, it's connected. Also, when I add a second adapter to 2008, there's a new connection when it boots up, what exactly should I configure for that one? It all looks confusingly odd to me.

You said that you have the guest using the internal network, did you not?

If you meant bridged then that is what you should say, but this will add another level of complexity to your network. Without knowing exactly what you goal is it is hard to advise, but I can tell you that if you set the dhcp server in the same lan that your router is and if it serves dhcp you are going to have issues.

Maybe if you explain a little more about what you have and what you are trying to achieve we can point you in the right direction.

I want to use Windows Server 2008 R2 as a server, which means DNS, DHCP, WEB, FTP, active directory management, etc.. Basically, I want to learn about it. So, to do that, I want to connect other virtual machines to it, maybe 2-3 virtual machines. I want the machines to connect to the DHCP server on 2008 and get a unique IP.

If I understand correctly how VirtualBox networking words, or networking in general perhaps, 2008 should have a Bridged connection, while the other systems should have internal network.
