Guest resolution issue...
I have a Macbook, running 10.6.8, Windows XP guest. The Windows guest resolution (1280x800) is correct, but only at a Color Quality of Medium. If I change the Color Quality, the resolution changes to 1280x960. What have I done wrong? Guest Additions are installled.

Post the log file from the guest.

Re: Guest resolution issue...
VBOX Gui, select guest, right mouse button, show log. Or look for file with extension ".log" in the directory where the guest is stored.

Try changing VGA Ram from 64 to 128 MB.

Re: Guest resolution issue...
No change at 128...worked fine before the update at 64.

Re: Guest resolution issue...
You may be chasing a ghost here. If you use the host-F toggle to go in and out of full screen what does the resolution say then?

Re: Guest resolution issue...
Don't think I'm chasing a ghost...when I use windowed mode, then change the Color Quality from 16- to 32 or 63-bit, the resolution goes from 1033x717 to 1024x768...

Re: Guest resolution issue...
Yes but click and drag changes that. The guest will see the resolution that you drag the window to and use that as your resolution.
If you want this to always be a static number you would need to set that using VBoxManage as a hint. See Advanced display configuration
Like I said a ghost, because the guest OS has no way to know what the monitor resolution really is in a virtual environment.

Re: Guest resolution issue...
I beg to differ...never had a problem prior to this. There _is_ something wrong.

Re: Guest resolution issue...
Oddly enough, solved my own problem. I went to windowed mode, maxed the Color Quality ( which put the resolution into 2024x768, even with the window maximized), then switched to full-screen mode, and changed the resolution and Color Quality to what I wanted.
