I know that this issue ahs been brought up and discussed before but I will bring it up again. It is possible to restore my VM to a previous state? I'm hosting a SharePoint 2010 server on Windows Server 2008 R2 and SQL Server 2008 R2.
I am seeing:
The attachment VM Error.png is no longer available
Following the file path given I am seeing this:
The attachment VM Files.png is no longer available

Hopefully you plan to fill in the missing images?
However in answer to your question, reverting a VM to a previous state is easy provided you made a backup or snapshot of that state (and I don't recommend the use of snapshots).
If "file not found" means you have been deleting files then only the backup will do.
VirtualBox saves prev versions of small control files which it modifies, so if that is the file you are missing then it should be possible to rename the -prev file back to the name VirtualBox expects.

My apologies for the broken Attachments. I think they are working now. I have not take snapshots or created backups therefore fearing I may be out of luck. I believe the problem is due to an improper shutdown when trying to remote into the VM.

Ok, if you haven't done it already then the -tmp file is the one you want. Just shut down VBox, remove the "-tmp" suffix from that file name and it should work fine.

I took the -tmp of the end and it seems to be working!!!
I will let you know after it all comes up if all my data is still there and functioning.

If the VM boots then the data should still be there - the -tmp file is the correct file, just for some reason something prevented VBox taking the final step of renaming it to .vbox.
| Edit: Ah, our posts crossed. Glad to have it confirmed. |
