Network to VM changes on host to router connection

Post by webby01 »

Hallo
I use VBOX 4.2.10
Each time I change the connection from the host to the router (WLAN or LAN or not connected)
the network connectivity to my VM machine is disabled.
Also the shared data is not available.

I have much trouble to connect the host to the VM again.
I try to change the Network from bridged to host only and back, I change the ICT/IP properties and so on.
Finally all I need is a connection host-VM but stable not depending on the king of host-router connection.

How could I realize that ?

You would set your first adapter (in the guest settings -> networking) to host-only and add a second adapter set to NAT.

Both should be self configuring. Just use dhcp in the guest/s

Default host-only network address base is 192.168.56.*, NAT is 10.0.2.*
The host should have 192.168.56.1 and the guest should get 192.168.56.101 for the first guest and *102, *103, Etc. for additional guests (this is the communications network for guest<>host). NAT does not matter because it is only for the guest to access the Internet (when available).
