Hi,
I installed a Virtuel Machine for WIN XP (Host is WIN8) to use an old programm and it works fine!
But sometimes I get a hint that the operatingsystem only will work some days and I am asked to activate Windows. If I try to do it, I am asked to give a key but I do not know what key.
I own a CD with a licensed XP-system and a key, but this key don't work with this system, of course.

What can I do to use this XP-system permanent?????

Is it possible to install XP from this CD? If yes, but how?

regards

That isn't really a VirtualBox queston, but I'll give a quick answer.

You don't need to give a key to activate XP, the CD key is only requested during installation.

The CD key is however stored and sent to the Microsoft server when you activate. Activation will fail if the key is stolen or otherwise invalid.

It is possible to install a new key in an existing installation - Google for how. You can buy licenses on eBay, but the new key much match the installed product, e.g. Home vs Pro, OEM vs Retail.
