Setting the default windowed screen resolution

Post by loukingjr »

If I understand the users manual correctly I can set all guests to the same windowed resolution by running "VBoxManage setextradata global GUI/MaxGuestResolution 1920,1080" in the Mac terminal but the guests would match my host resolution in full screen. Or am I missing something?

thanks. that works :)

edit: oops. I spoke too soon. It kind of works but if I switch from windowed mode to full screen it's fine but if I then switch back panels etc are drawn outside the window just as it had never changed back to the original resolution. Perhaps that's not something I can do automatically.

hmmm. it worked once. I set the display preferences in virtualbox to Hint 1920x1080 and one of my guests did switch to windowed mode to that resolution. However, it stopped working for that guest and any other guest. not sure why.

I forgot to mention VirtualBox does not remember the window size it was dragged to. If I open a guest in windowed mode, resize it to some arbitrary size, shut down the guest and then restart it, it no longer is at the previous size.
