shared folders but how?

Post by fredVbox »

hi,

in the Virtuel Box Manager, shared folders I have specified the path of a Host - folder , but in the window of the running VM I can't find it!! (Operating System Type in VM: WIN XP)

What may be wrong?

If guest additions are installed and you didn't check the automount checkbox in shared folder settings, you have to manually map a drive and browse virtualbox network.

Thank you for the answers.

I think the guest additions are not installed, but I do not know how to install it.

While the guest is running, select "Devices" menu from the top bar, then "Install Guest Additions...". This option mounts a virtual CD in the guests CD drive (the virtual CD is an .ISO which is bundled with VirtualBox). Normally with XP the autorun feature will kick in and the GA installation will begin. If it doesn't begin automatically then navigate to the CD folder inside the guest, and run the .exe file manually.
