(Solved) Shared Folders not mounting Manjaro

I need to see the exact mount statement.

the one that works in a terminal is... sudo mount -t vboxsf -o uid=1000,gid=1000 Media ~/MediaOne
the one I tried in /etc/rc.local was mount -t vboxsf Media /home/louis/MediaOne

I'm not sure why but if I turn off automount I can't mount the shares in the terminal.
edit: I didn't notice this before either but even when I mount them in the terminal they don't show in either /media or /mnt

Trying to follow this but am getting confused.

• 1) disable automount. (with the guest shut down not saved state)
  2) run the manual mount in a terminal

Post any errors.

sorry Perry. I must of just restarted the guest instead of shutting it down first. the terminal command works whether automount is checked or not.

Still can't mount them with the mount command in /etc/rc.local nor do the shared folders show in /media unlike every other Linux guest even when they are mounted.

Alright, now continue leaving the automount disabled and see if rebooting the guest mounts the share in the location that you stated in the mount.

If it does not then run sudo /etc/rc.local from the terminal and see if it mounts the share.

You do not have /media in your mount statement. That is what automount uses. It mounts the share much like a CD and one reason why I hate to use it. It torks the permissions and causes me way too many headaches. Your mount is telling the OS to put it in your user space and MediaOne.

okay, will give it a try. going to be a little while. I have to run out the door. will post what I find.

well, change of plans. I mentioned I was going to try /etc/fstab. adding... 'share mountpoint vboxsf defaults 0 0' to it actually mounts the shared folder. the only annoying thing is I am mounting two shared folders, (MediaOne & MediaTwo), and no matter the order I list them in /etc/fstab MediaOne is always below MediaTwo in the side pane. I can live with that I suppose.
