critical error, virtual machine stopped

My Ubuntu 12.04LTS guest on a Windows 8 host failed with an error "A critical error has occurred while running the VM and the execution has been stopped." The VM was running OK when the host went into sleep mode but on waking up the machine, I got the error. The log file is attached and I would be grateful for any help with getting this VM back up and running.
