There was a bug in an older version when taking live snapshots. But that was fixed. I don't use the things so I didn't know about it, but the word was you could stop the guest or even pause it and then take the snapshot and it worked. Other than that you would need to post a ticket at bugtracker

rolled back virtual box version to identical on desktop - all working!!!!
