Blue Screens at installation

Hi,

first of all I must apologize for my bad english.

And just in case it can help, after several days trying to install XP, and 2000 in Virtualbox, and only obtaining blue screens during OS files copy, in two different quite new computers (6 months since purchased), I have discovered these problems can be easily solved by changing memory or virtualization options in computer bios.

Hp-Compaq desk computer: Disable virtualization option in bios
Acer desk computer: Disable spread spectrum option in bios

Now in both computers, XP and 2000 run in VirtualBox.

I Hope it helps, otherwise you can just delete this post.

Thank you.

Your English is fine, but I doubt your conclusions. Disabling VT-x in the host BIOS obviously means that VirtualBox will not exercise that part of its code. However lots of people are able to run XP and Win2K without problems. So, I suspect another problem which your "fix" covers up somehow. E.g. perhaps you are giving too much or too little of the hosts RAM to the VM, perhaps you were assigning too many cores etc.

Hard to say without more details.

I understand and I agree that the changes that made all work dont have real sense. I mean you have just guessed what I was trying to show.

I have tried both systems XP and 2000 with so much configuration combinations (memory, cores, virtualization, video...)... The fact is that after changing these options in bios, both OS work with the standard configuration, and with 1024MB and less base memory.

I am not a programmer and I have very little hardware knowledge, so I just wanted to share my experience in case it can help. Now I can run my old windows program, wich i was unable to use in w7 and w8...

I cant understand the problem nor the solution.

Thank you again.
