hi guys,

i am having a problem installing the 'Windows server 2008 enterprise edition' on the Virtualbox,
theres an attach screenshot for the problem,
-im looking for the cause of it, and the possible Solution so that i can use it for our lesson,
p.s.
- i have successfully installed other OS like Xp, win7 , ubuntu using the Virtualbox

im using:
-AMD sempron 2.10Ghz
-3GB mem
-32 bit windows 8 pro

See Online Users Manual for the location of the file.

Also from the hosts terminal/command window type VBoxManage showvminfo <VM Name> --details and post here. Replace <VM Name> with the actual name of the VM. Use " " if the name has a space in it.

Note if the host is Windows you need to be in the directory that has VBoxManage.exe for the command to work.

The log says it all: Your processor does not support VT. Or its not activated in the BIOS. I think its the first reason. The Sempron is not known as a high class processor.

last month,
before i change my OS from win7 to win8
i have installed it together with other OS, which is required in our class,

that time i didnt have any problem in the installation and on the operating time,

i look in the net is my Processor support AMD-V, the site says it does:

"Sempron" is too vague. It seems to be a marketing label covering lots of very different CPUs. This page that I found says that "all but 65 nm Sempron chips are enabled with AMD-V". However it also provides a link to a utility you can use to test your actual CPU for the availability of this feature.

In the meantime the VBox log file seems quite clear: your CPU is saying that it doesn't have the feature.

i copied a VDI (disk image) of Windows server 2008 from my classmate,
hoping that it might run in my computer.

and it is a success, it run smoothly,
so why it is running if sempron doesnt support AMD VT-x??

Your ISO file contains 32bit and 64bit versions of Win 2008.
Without AMD-V/VT-X you should be able to run the 32bit version.
Did you check if the copied VM is 32bit or 64bit?

Well, if he doesn't have AMD-v then we know it can't be 64bit.

the ISO file that i am using but fail to resume installation is

If that screenshot is of the vm running from the vdi you obtained from a classmate, it is indeed a 32-bit OS and there is no reason why it would not run.

According to this you do not have hardware virtualization available.

Why is it so hard to look in the bios on your PC and see whether or not it has it.

i dont find any setting or info about the virtualization of the CPU,
theres only the name of it and speed, no changeable options..

We cant help you. The hardware MUST SUPPORT THIS and IT MUST BE ENABLED, or it does not work.

There is NO other way, sorry.

If your Bios doesn't have virtualization then your CPU doesn't have virtualization. It's as simple as that.

Install the 32Bit version of Srv2008 if you want a clean install.
This is not a Vbox issue.
