Hi,
We have four parts of Linux VM with extension .ova
We tried to build the Linux VM through virtual box by importing each .ova file.
Receiving below error on attempting to import and build Linux VM.
Failed to import appliance D:\Lab_setup\OVM_OL5U8_x86_64_PVHVM.ova.Error reading "D:\Lab_setup\OVM_OL5U8_x86_64_PVHVM.ova": Hard disk item with instance ID 5 specifies invalid parent 0, line 85.Result Code: VBOX_E_FILE_ERROR (0x80BB0004)Component: ApplianceInterface: IAppliance {3059cf9e-25c7-4f0b-9fa5-3c42e441670b}
Appreciate any help in this regard at the earliest.
Thanks...
Sreeram.

Is it one file split into four segments? If yes then, I would think, you need to re-join the segments into one file first.

I got these four .ova files and am not sure how to combine them into one.
Am expecting virtual box would do the merging/combining during import.
appreciate if anybody can help us in this regard.
Regards,
Sreeram.

I would think that the place that you got these from would have install information.

Hi,
I am also getting same error the only difference is I am trying to import only one .ova file and not all 4. Still I am experiencing the same error.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

It would help since I don't see where anyone has checked the install instructions for the supplier, if you post the publishers link so we can see what they are.

Hi,
I have attached an .txt (Readme) file which is what I got from where I have downloaded these .ova files.

This OVA is for Oracle VM, not for Virtualbox.
They are two different products.

Well, if the appliance comforms to the VMWare standard then VirtualBox should at least be able to import it, if not run it. What we are lacking here is a precise description of how the appliance is supplied. As Perry suggests, a download link would be a good start.

Those are templates for the Oracle VM server. Completely different beast.
I know because I also use Oracle VM server. Great product but really hefty.
You need manifest files and a descriptor files as well even on the OVM server. You can get help from OTN but *only* if you are using the OVM server.
