Failed to open a session - Windows 7

Post by AndyS01 »

I saved my vbox files to a flash drive and on a new laptop, formatted the hard disk, re-installed Windows 7, re-installed VirtualBox, re-installed the extension pack and I get this error:

Code: Select all

Failed to open a session for the virtual machine
XP_on_ my_laptop

cpum#1: X86_CPUID_AMD_FEATURE_EXC_CR8L is not
supported by the host but has already exposed to the
guest [ver=12 pass=final]
(VERR_SSM_LOAD_CPUID_MISMATCH)

Details:
Result cde: E_FAIL (0x80004005)
component: Console
interface: IConsole {db7ab-2a3f-4183-9243-c1208da92392}
I tried doing a full clone, but the cloned machine got the same error.

You can't copy a saved state to a new host with a different CPU. Right click and select "Discard saved state".
