FreeDOS network failure after upgrade

Post by joed3 »

I have a FreeDOS 1.1 VM guest installed on OSX 10.8.2 host. It ran fine under VirtualBox v4.2.6, allowing networking and file transfers using ftpsrv. I upgraded VirtualBox to 4.2.8 and made no changes to the VM setup. Now the network driver (PCNTPK) fails to load so there is no network adapter recognized. Naturally dhcp and ftpsrv do not work any longer. Uninstalling VirtualBox 4.2.8 and re-installing v4.2.6, everything works again. I realize I may be the only FreeDOS user out there :) but has anyone else seen this problem under a DOS VM? I did submit a bug report.
