How do I move a VM?

I created a VM which works well. The next day I tried to start it and would get an access denied error. I determined that my profile in Windows was corrupted and the VM file is my old profile folder. When I try to edit the settings of the VM and save I get an access denied because it is trying to save to my old profile folder. I copied the VM folder from the old profile to the current profile but that isn't working. VirtualBox still only wants to look in the original location for the file. I seem to be stuck.

Thanks,

Jon

  1. First, put things back the way they were.
  2. Run VirtualBox and remove (but not delete) the VM.
  3. Shut down VirtualBox, leave for 30 seconds.
  4. Move the enter VM folder to wherever you want.
  5. Run VirtualBox and use Machine|Add... to register the VMs .vbox file at its new location.
Do it carefully.
