Windows 7 Networking Broken

Post by Fivel »

I used to use virtualbox occasionally for hosting an old minecraft server on MineOS. Recently, I pulled it back up to get it running again. I updated from 3.0.2 to 4.2.8. However, now I cannot connect to any outside network locations via guests or the host, Windows 7 Ultimate x64. When I attempt to connect with a web address OR IP address, I receive connection errors. LAN locations, like my other PC, work okay. I've never messed about with network settings, mainly because I've never had to. At this point, I just want to have my host internet working again. It's not worth the effort to get some old server running again.
I've attached my "ipconfig /all" and a VBox log file. Any help at all would be appreciated.

-Note- I cannot view my IP4V or IP6V settings in my network properties. It says I must have a network adapter card installed, which I do. It shows in device manager, and worked only a few hours ago.

From your ipconfig, the only Internet access you have is through the hamachi interface. VirtualBox cannot share one of those to a guest (and they sometimes cause problems with VirtualBox networking).

Your Realtek network adapter has an APIPA address (169.254.x.x). These are not routable. I am surprised that you can see the machines on your LAN. Do they also use APIPA addresses? Or do they also use hamachi?

Do you have a DHCP server on your LAN? If you do, set your Realtek NIC to obtain an IP address and DNS automatically. VirtualBox will then be able to share the connection to the guest.

Problem solved. My network card driver was corrupted when VirtualBox attempted to install the bridge network adapter. Re-downloaded newest one from manufacturer website.
