File ownership change problem

Post by Dave_8 »

My virtual box is running on Windows 7 host. The virtual machine is UBUNTU 11.1 I created a shared folder called one between Win7 and UBUNTU. I can see files in it. However, when I tryed to write to the shared folder in UBUNTU, I couldn't Permission error. The shared folder is owned by root. I tried for 2 days everything I could find on Internet to change the ownership of the folder- but to no results. When I try to change the ownerships - sudo chown - no errors but the file still is owned by root
Any ideas?
Thank you

If you are using the auto-mount feature of the shared folders you need to add your (guests) user name to the vboxsf group on the guest.
See Chapter 4.3.2 Automatic mounting in your VirtualBox users manual.
