Hello,

i know, this theme was already discussed a few times and i tried it out since over 4 hours no. I think it´s time to get help.

I installed VB 4.2.6 and MINT also with Guest extensions. I add a shared folder to VB called 'ubuntu'.

In home directory i add folder ubuntu.

I tried

sudo mount -t vboxsf -o rw,uid=1000,gid=1000 share /home/jochen/ubuntu

with

/sbin/mount.vboxsf: mounting failed with the error: Protocol error

I´am not using Linux every day, so i´am not so in what to do. Any hints?

Thanks a lot,
Jochen

I know it's not normally recommended but I have found using the VirtualBox menu to create a shared folder and checking Automount and Make Permanent has worked well with any Ubuntu based distro.

edit: btw, the line you want to use is... sudo mount -t vboxsf -o uid=1000,gid=1000 ubuntu ~/ubuntu
I think there is an issue using the same name for the share and the target folder.

Hello and thank you!

I didn´t know this command in detail. I thought 'share' is a command. After shange it to the shared name of VB, it worked.
