Hi,
This may sound trivial: I set-up my Debian VM going through the usual steps in VB, and used a 6.0.6 ISO file for Debian. However, when I run the VM for the first time, its supposed to allow me to do some settings, not the least of which, set the users passwords. In this case, however, the VM directly starts the machine and goes into the login window for the 'debian' user (who I obviously do not know the default password for, and have not set one, for, anyway).
Any ideas about this? Can the problem be in the image file I am using? Please advise.

Re: Debian VM: No offering set-up
The issue is in the ISO yes, Virtualbox is simply a hardware virtualizator nothing else.

Debian has just released a new installer and it may be that it is a live CD. What is the exact file name of the iso you have?
Re: Debian VM: Setting the Network stuff
Hi,
1) Thanks for the replies. Actually, it turns out to be an oversight on my part, as, indeed, the ISO file comes with two default user accounts (root, debian), and their default passwords were separately listed on the download page:
(Link: http://downloads.sourceforge.net/virtua ... 0.6.vdi.7z)
2) However, I am having a problem in setting the network stuff on my Debian VM.
I tried updating the /etc/network/interfaces for the netmask.
I updated the DNS from Debian's Network dialogue box.
I set the hostname in the hostname file.
I set the host OS IP from Virtual Box itself.
Still, the VM keeps saying it cannot connect to a network, ssh does not work, and neither does any browser.
Any tips appreciated.
3) Also, is there a 'one stop shop' were I can get a lot of the common utilities, like svn, ant, and a lot of linux flavored utils, so I can set them up all at once.
