First Start Wizard - does not start

Mac OS X 10.7.5 Host. No matter what type of VM I create, the Start Wizard does not run when the VM is first started. I then get:

Failed to open a session for the virtual machine WC.
The virtual machine 'WC' has terminated unexpectedly during startup with exit code 1.
