USB printer access both host and guest.

I have a USB printer, now i need use this printer both the Host OS and Guest OS at the same time. the printer run well in all OS separately. Can it be done? many thank.

I do this by setting a filter in my WinXP guest to take full control of the printer, since its drivers for Windows are better than those available in Linux, then in the Xubuntu host I configure CUPS to access the printer through my network connection to the guest, using the IPP syntax. It works quite well.

thank you, upstairs. but my host and guest are running on the WinXP platform, not linux system. How to configure as your above talk with WinXP? many thanks. other way, could you tell me what's the CUPS and IPP?

Only possible with network sharing, as for physical computers.
