Hi,
Having some serious problems trying to restore a .sav here and thought maybe somebody could shed some light

Background:
Host is windows XP
1 Linux guest .VMDK (ubuntu)
1 .sav file with some important info contained

The ubuntu guest runs fine normally, but i am trying to load up the .sav file and just cant get it to work.
I set up the new VM and use the existing Ubuntu HDD (At this point everything works 100%), then using VBoxManage adoptstate i import the state that im trying to apply to the VM. It applies as you can see the 'saved' on virtualbox, but after i click run it starts to load, then promptly errors.

Error is the following;

There doesnt seem to be much about this particular error, and i cant seem to fathom it.
Tried PAE/NX & There is plenty of spare memory.

I fairly sure the .sav file is a snapshot of memory from a saved state. Much like hibernation it does not hold the operating system and without the original OS tied to the sav it is pretty much useless.

Indeed it is, but i am using the existing HDD that the .sav came from, so that shouldn't be an issue.

How did you end up with a sav file that is evidently not tied to the base. It should start from the saved state when you select to run the guest, unless you moved it or aborted the boot.

Perhaps if you elaborate exactly what happened it might be determined what could be done, if anything.

Long story, but i have finally got around this via another method.
Please feel free to lock/delete as this isn't really constructive based on the initial error.

? "Sav" is nothing to do with any hdd. It's a core dump.
