Create PenTest Lab

Post by Melvin »

Hello all,
I been looking around the board but haven't found what I was looking for. Here's my issue I'm having.

I have a win7 laptop as my default OS that I"m running virutal box. I have backtrack 5 r3 and De-ice running .

What I need is to setup backtrack and de-ice to talk to each other only. I still want my win7 to have Internet access.

I tried different ways but haven't been able to get this working. I changed it to host/internal . If someone could explain to me how to set this up i would really
appreciate it . Been trying to figure this out for 1 week now.

Thank you,

Set one adapater on each VM in Internal mode, with the same network name, and assign static IPs to them

Thank you for the reply... that was my last hope of doing that. But i seen some videos where users change the network adapter and it works for them.De-ice 100 you can't change the ip address because I don't have the password for it. you have to get the pentest the iso to get the root password.

I seen some videos of users just making a network switch and it works for them. ugh it's hard to explain....

2 solutions here :
- If you must keep it Internal only, set a dhcp server on your backtrack. This way the VMs cannot communicate to anything else at all.

- Create a Host-only interface on the host, bind the NICs of the VM to it, and you'll get IPs from the default enabled DHCP server from Virtualbox for the Host-Only adapters. This way, the VMs can talk to the host.
