Greetings to all,
I have been using my Vbox for a while with 2.8 G of memory. I tried to increase its size many times in vain / Guru meditation error / since i am using only a quarter of all my host memory /8Go/
Is there anyway to use more memory please, I would like to allocate half of my Host memory to the VB if possible ?
The other problem I am ecountring is that when I run some simulations on my linux VB it takes too much time, the same simulations are extremely fast on a machine with linux dualboot. Is there a way to improve the performance on the VB please?
Thank you in advance for your attention and answers.
Best regards,
Nore

Re: Memory size issues
We can't answer that question with the information given. We need to know how much memory is actually available on your host; knowing how much is installed tells us nothing really.
Also, if your host RAM is fragmented then this can make it difficult to allocate one big contiguous chunk for a VM.

Re: Memory size issues
Thank you for you answer. In fact, I mentioned in my previous post that the host memory is 8 Go.
I will check the fragmentation issue and let you know later. If it is, is there any chance to overcome this problem?
Thank you again.

I suggest that you read my previous reply a little more carefully.nore wrote:Thank you for you answer. In fact, I mentioned in my previous post that the host memory is 8 Go.
Re: Memory size issues
Sorry, the available ram is 5.5 Go.
As for fragmentation I do not think so, I don t know where to check that. Could you tell me where i can check that please? Sorry if it sounds evident but I don t know how.

Re: Memory size issues
I think I'll need to see the log file for a failed session. Post it as a .zip attachment please.
I don't of a way to detect memory fragmentation, except that if you try to allocate a large amount of memory in one chunk, and it fails, then that may be the reason. The only cure would be to try a smaller chunk or add more RAM to the host.
