Guest editions -> the network path could not be found..

I've installed the guest editions and am trying to connect to a shared drive that appear in the shared folders settings dialogue.

However things like mapping network path like

\\vboxsvr\home\me\Desktop\test come up with the network path could not be found..

What is the host?
Can you see the shared folder in the Windows guests file manager under network and vboxsrv?

virtualbox.org
