Can't get USB to work on new Vbox version

Post by mikeybinec »

I hate bothering people around here, but the previous version was kind to USB devices whereas the new version I'm guessing needs some
kind of configuration. Vbox sees the UUID number of the USB but throws out the message that the usb failed to attach and is busy right now with a previous request and try again later (paraphrasing)

Thanks

WOW.. I went through all those threads and there is no solution. I saw one guy offered to pay for a solution. I'm there. Anybody up to the challenge to fix the USB bug in Vbox? I'll throw some $$$ in the kitty

Well I would like an extra $100 but the truth of the matter is if you have tried the suggested resolutions and they did not work then you have a conflict on your host. I had an issue with USB on Windows for the longest time and finally resolved it to the HP printer software (they are worse than MS about wanting to be the only thing on your PC). Seems the HP card reader software was the issue even though I did not use it. I removed it and only loaded the printer drivers and never had an issue again.

Long story short you will need to disable things one at a time until you find the one that is causing the issue.

Note: I have never found the Windows software to be the issue causing USB problems. It was always 3d party.

This is strictly USB flash drives that Vbox does'nt like.. Two different machines two different O/Ss same result
..and your partner shared this link with me: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&as_q ... as_rights=

page after page after page after page of people haveing the same issue

So I was hoping that $100 would create some interest in fixing this issue

I can only restate what I said earlier. I never have issues with any USB devices on a Linux host period and when I do on a Windows host it is always due to a conflict with 3rd party drivers. The only other thing that has come up recently are USB-3 devices which VirtualBox does not support yet.

Now if you have other concrete data that you can provide to the DEVs you should post a ticket at bugtracker

I agree with this guy: It seems to be a Win 7 Win 8 issue

It works for me. I never set a filter and select the device (USB) from the pull down when ever I need it. But I get this going on a virgin install before I add all kinds of 3rd party apps. That way when I install an app that causes an issue I can find out what to do. Other than that you are chasing your tail trying to figure out what the cause is and what to do about it.
