[SOLVED] Cannot remove Vbox

Post by CheckBT »

I have installed Vbox 4.1.8 on my Xp 64 bit. Now I want to upgrade to 4.2.6, but when I remove it, during this process, I receive 691 error from Internet connection: "Access was denied because the username or password was invalid on the domain", so fatal error incoming. I use an ethernet with PPoe, Alice-Telecom, and User/pass was blank, so I decided to change to aliceadsl.

How I can fix this problem? sorry for my BAD english. Thank you.

That has nothing to do with your network connection. It is purely a Windows permissions problem.

What account were you using when you installed VirtualBox? If you were logged in at work with a domain account, that is the account which "owns" the VirtualBox files, and everything should work fine if you are using that account when you try to uninstall it.

I used always the same account. Vbox files are in C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox and If I want to use some VM all works fine. Onnly problem is that I can't remove it, but Vbox works well.

Can you try and log on as local administrator and remove it there? Barring that, is the current domain account you are using in the loacl administrator group?

I'm using the default administrator account and it's the only. I tryed to unistall Vbox by using original 4.1.8 exe (also repair and remove), and also tryed professional unistall programs. Error be same in each case.

@rootman/BillG: Thank you for your help.
