About the installer's architecture

Hello Guys

I have the follow question....

I have Linux and Windows, both OS are 64 bits... My PC(mobo, processor) is Intel

I did realize that the installers of VirtualBox for both OS are available in the follow way
  • Fedora 18 ("Spherical Cow") i386 | AMD64
VirtualBox 4.2.6 for Windows hosts x86/amd64
Both are for 32 bits....

Therefore should I work without problems with the VirtualBox installers of 32 bits in a OS of 64 bits?

Thanks in advanced

For the Linux version, you have a link for the 32 AND the 64 bits version, that's what AMD64 is for.
For the Windows version, the installer is both 32 and 64 bits and will install the architecture matching your OS.

Thanks for the reply

Yes, you are right....

I didnt realize the note shown above in the Linux's download section...
VirtualBox 4.2.6 for Linux

Note: The package architecture has to match the Linux kernel architecture, that is, if you are running a 64-bit kernel, install the appropriate AMD64 package (it does not matter if you have an Intel or an AMD CPU). Mixed installations (e.g. Debian/Lenny ships an AMD64 kernel with 32-bit packages) are not supported. To install VirtualBox anyway you need to setup a 64-bit chroot environment.
Thank You
