Hey.
I have VB installed on Win 7 x64 SP1 and just created a VM of WinXP SP3. When I try to connect from 7 to XP (\\10.0.0.4 - that's XP's ip) I have to input a password and it keep telling me it's the wrong username\password. The other way around - from XP to 7, it recognizes user\password.
I'm kind of new in this, so I don't really know where to look to solve this. Any help will be appreciated.
* Guest additions installed and updated to the latest version.
* In VB - attached to bridged adapter, promiscuous mode - allowed all.
* On XP firewall disabled. On 7 - Comodo firewall, with default settings.
* Can't ping from guest to host. No problem pinging host to guest.

VirtualBox knows nothing about passwords. That's something software running on guest and/or host will care about, and will depend on how you've configured them. One mistake that newbies have made in the past is to incorrectly configure the keyboard layout in the guest, meaning that they aren't typing what they think they are typing. Test thing by opening a text editor window and typing the password in clear text so you can see it.
Incidentally, a 10.x IP address usually means NAT, which normally means you can't contact the guest from the host. Comms can only be initiated guest to host.
