Vm as service, but not headless

Hello,
maybe this has been asked before, but I couldn't find anything specific to my question while searching the last few hours.
What I want to do is to:
I looked into VBoxVmServer, but I figured that isn't what I want to do, am I right?
So essentially it should behave like 2 complete OSes running simultaneously and the user can just switch between them with the press of a button.

What I want to do is to:
- Start a Ubuntu VM after (or while) boot without the user noticing anything about it (maybe a system tray icon).
- Pressing a key combination like e.g. "Host + #" which switches you into the full screen VM.
- Pressing "Host + #" which switches you back to your native OS.
