Windows XP does not grab IP of configured network adapter

Post by superwave »

Hello,

First, I am a newbie to VirtualBox. I've setup VirtualBox to have the following settings for host-only networks.

VirtualBox Host-Only Ethernet Adapter #1:
IPv4 address: 10.10.0.4
Network Mask: 255.255.255.0

Then, I've created a Windows XP SP3 VM which has the following network settings:

Adapter 1: Enabled
Attached to: Host-only adapter
Name: Virtual Host-Only Ethernet Adapter #1

The problem is, when I start my Win XP VM, when looking at the network adapter, it isn't configured at all. Even if I force the adapter once in the VM with the required settings, nothing works.

Any ideas would be really welcome,

Thanks

10.x is a NAT network address, not host only.
