Host CD/DVD gives "access denied error" when starting guest

Have the latest version installed, but when starting any guest OS, i get an error access denied. The host is Windows 7 64-bit on HP desktop. Regardless of which guest, get same error. Even tried external CD/DVD and get same error, but different drive letter in error.
VirtualBox - Error
Failed to open a session for Virtual Machine <machine name>
Cannot open host device 'D:\' for readonly access
Check the permissions of that device
(VERR_ACCESS_DENIED)
