Accessing W2K8 in Vbox

Post by mikeybinec »

Host is win7 64 bit w/16 gig ram and I installed W2K8 in vbox. For a school project, I want remote hosts to be able to access
file services of the server. Do I change the NIC on vbox to bridged. Man, I understand networks real well it's just
VMs is really new to me and I appreciate everybody here helping.

Thanks

Nothing really changes just because you are using virtual networks. They still work exactly the same way.

If you set the vm to use bridged networking and bridge it to the physical NIC in the host, the vm will behave just like another machine on the physical network. If there is a DHCP server on the network it will get its network config from there and just work.
