Renaming screenshots

Post by tommy2k10 »

I am doing an Open University course in which I have to install multiple VM's. Some of the questions in the assignments require screenshots, which I know how to do, but it won't let me rename them, until I go to wherever I saved them and then rename them! Is there a way to rename when they are saved? I am using Windows 7.

Sure, according the user manual, the "VBoxManage controlvm screenshotpng <file>" command allows to you supply a filename. Personally I would just live with holding the destination folder in a window and rename the png file when it appears.

I have looked in the manual. Two questions:

1) Which Command Prompt do I use? (Host or VM)
2) What do I type?

Host command prompt. The commands are :-

Code: Select all

cd "\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox"
VBoxManage controlvm "vm name here in quotes" snapshotpng "png path and name here"
