This is a simple question but what's an efficient way to do it? Host is Ubuntu 12.04. My only VM is Windows 7. I want to create a VM for Windows 8. I think all my settings for Windows 7 will suffice except I don't think I can afford another fixed size HD. Can I clone and simultaneously change the type of image file?
TIA, Doug

Re: Change settings while cloning
One thing you could do is clone the Win7 VDI using CloneVDI. The result from CloneVDI is always a dynamic disk, it doesn't offer the legacy fixed size option. Make sure "Keep UUID" is selected in CloneVDI, that way you can replace the VDI in the original VM. Then in future you can clone or back up the VM without worries - and you can afford to make the disk a decent size too.
