Hope this is in the right place, also tried a search with nothing.
So I got virtualbox with windows 7 installed, just one problem though. I use mumble and often use my asus xonar dgx to play music on the mumble server for people to hear. With Virtual box I have no option of selecting what sound source i want to use. It only gives me Windows direct sound or Null. With audio controllers being Intel, ICH, and soundblaster. I tried to dl the asus xonar dgx driver on the windows 7 virtual machine but it just says i need to install the card, which it is. Im a little confused here and came up kinda lost on search. I know this is possible since my friend does it but he is around the world with a strange schedule.

Re: Soundcard and Virtualbox
The OS in the virtual machine cannot see the physical card in the host machine. It can only see the emulated card in the vm.

How do i set up a emulated card, or just anything that can pick up a sound source and play it back?BillG wrote:The OS in the virtual machine cannot see the physical card in the host machine. It can only see the emulated card in the vm.

Re: Soundcard and Virtualbox
You select the soundcard simulation in the VM settings, however there is not a wide choice - as you've already seen. A BillG mentions, it's a virtual machine - it isn't designed to use host hardware directly.
