Accessing a VM Machine from Multiple OSX Users

Post by JMill »

I have already installed a Virtual Windows Machine on my IMAC (under my user location) and want another user on the same computer to access it. What are the steps to take in assuring another user can access the same machine?

Mountain Lion OSX

Locate the VM in a public folder, make sure the VM is registered in VBox manager for both users.

Of course this gives multiple user access, not simultaneous access.

Hi - thanks. When I move the VM to shared folder I can't open as it states there is already another file with a UUID. So that doesn't seem to work for me.

It doesn't sound like you relocated the VM properly. You need to unregister (remove) the VM for the original user, of course you must not let VBox delete the physical files. The you must shut down VirtualBox, move the VM folder to a public location, then it can be registered (using Machine|Add) for any user that wants access, including the original user.
