Hi All,

I have a USB DVD Rom on my iMac.

Id like to have this passthrough directly to a VM so I can both boot from it and use it inside the guest system (which will be normally Windows based).

I can seem to get this to work though, any pointers?

Gavin.

Several Mac users have reported difficulty getting USB CD/DVD drives to be recognizes as valid optical drives. Perhaps the host OS treats those drives differently, in which case it may not be possible to use them directly.

In any case using ISO images is a far superior option, since it guarantees that the host will not interfere, you can't accidentally install on the host etc. Also the simulated DVD drive will be faster in operation, and totally silent.
