Hello,

I created a disk image of an old server with
QEMU PC emulator version 0.12.5 (Debian 0.12.5+dfsg-3)

When starting up the machine, nothing happens. Using the VirtualBox Manager Application, the vbox window only says " Starting [vbox name]", and nothing more happens.

In headless mode VirtualBox prints out
Oracle VM VirtualBox Headless Interface 4.2.4
(C) 2008-2012 Oracle Corporation

Any ideas whats wrong and how can I find out?

Obviously the VM recipe doesn't match what's required by the OS image. Quite often the mistake is failing to enable IO APIC.

Thanks. I will check that.
Are there any possibilities to get warnings about that? A debug mode or something?

Warnings about what? VirtualBox has no way to know what drivers/kernels a premade guest has been installed with.
