Win 8-host/import/export problem.

Post by player »

Hi all,

I am using VB 4.2.6 on my laptop to boot two Microsoft Servers 2008 R2. After I prepared all functionality for these servers i ve tried to move it as virtual machines to bigger pc so they can work in normal environment, but this seems to be impossible. After i copied it my server-pc can not run properly virtual machines (windows servers), it steel restarting them, when windows bar will finish loading files. Next step i did was to turn off Hardware Virtualization(Enable Vt-x/AMD-V) and change number of running processors to one (I found this idea on this forum, it worked out for someone :)) then export virtualmachines to ova files and import them by another host , changed settings back, but same problem again, after windows bar finished loading files, RESTART!. Do you have any other idea? Any? Otherwise i will lose my work as i can not copy it to other computer.

Thanks for any help.

I'm having trouble reading that... sentences after the first seem to have been constructed with a random word generator. ...

So I'll mostly ignore the text and answer the title question. Moving VMs between PCs is easy, and export/import is NOT the correct tool to use. Simply copy the VM folder, complete with contents, to the new PC. Use Machine|Add... on that PC to register the VM (the .vbox file).
