How to hotplug a VDI to a Linux VM

Post by adminxor »

Hi all.

I am running VirtualBox 4.2.6.r82870 on a Windows 7 x86-64 host. I was wondering if I could hotplug a virtual disk (VDI) to a Linux (RHEL 6.2 x86-64) VM. I don't seem to find a way to do that on VirtualBox.

Could you please advise.

It isn't something I've ever needed to use, but how about "VBoxManage storageattach" ? Of course it will only work if the guest OS expects/supports it, e.g. hotplugging of drives isn't typically a feature of IDE controllers AFAIK, though it may work on SATA or SCSI.
