Can't seem to get Macbook Air res to 1440x900. Running W8 Pro (x32) on OS X 10.8.2 host. Have installed Guest Additions, and auto re-size guest display in VM toolbar options is checked. I was successful doing this with another W8 VM I'm also running (the developers trial download version), but can't seem to get the full macbook res. on this VM. Latest VBox.log attached. Thanks!

Fixed myself, providing this for the benefit of others:

VirtualBox user manual, Chapter 4, page 60 describes in detail how to install, mount and launch Guest Additions. I selected "Install Guest Additions" in the VM manager toolbar, and the ISO was assigned to the storage controller IDE in the VM settings, but the ISO program was not mounted and run. Here's how to do it.

You have to also execute the Guest Additions ISO by having the guest operating system running, then under Devices select CD/DVD Devices, and select the guest additions ISO file (check mark shows it has been mounted or selected). I also then had to double click on this checked filename to force Windows 8 to run the .exe. Just having the guest additions downloaded and mounted to the CD/DVD devices (checked) wasn't enough, I had to double-tap on the file name to force Windows 8 to execute the guest additions and make the changes take effect. After W8 runs the .exe program for guest additions, it asks to reboot the operating system. A few minutes after re-boot, the screen auto-resized to 1440x900 res. Finally!!

Hope this helps someone else, and good luck.

When I click on cd/dvd devices it doesn't show the .iso

I changed the screen resolution on guest windows 8 on mac book pro and I'm stuck at low resolution, the resolution is greyed out, I can't correct my mistake...
