Moving VM's to a new machine
Moving VM's to a new machine
hello everyone, I've been working on a networking project but recently my machine has been giving me a lot of problems. To the point where it would be easier for me to switch to another machine. Question is how do I move my Virtual machines over to my external hard drive and then detect them on the other computer?

Re: Moving VM's to a new machine
Rather a lot of caveats here, since you don't mention what version of VirtualBox is involved, nor what Operating Systems are running on the old and new machines.
Assuming the answers are v4.x, Windows, Windows - just copy the entire "VirtualBox VMs" folder (with all contents) to the new machine, then use Machine|Add to register each individual VMs .vbox file.

Thank you for answering. My apologize for the lack in information I am new to this so I didn't think of it. Your assumptions were right thoughmpack wrote:Rather a lot of caveats here, since you don't mention what version of VirtualBox is involved, nor what Operating Systems are running on the old and new machines.

Re: Moving VM's to a new machine
Glad I guessed right. In that case, moving this thread to "Windows Hosts".
