virtualbox not working in my computer

i have downloaded virtualbox and have installed it. then i downloaded the latest version of chromeOS.
i tried running it, but it didn't work. i have not got any error. but there is a black screen with the header saying - 'running'.
i waited for so long, more than an hour, and downloaded several chromeOS, and have re-installed virtualbox several times too, but nothing worked out for me.
it's been 3 days now. and i am so confused as what is going on.
earlier it was giving me an error saying use kernel suitable for CPU, but i removed it by going into settings.
also in network i have chosen bridged adapter, but nothing came out god. problem is still a problem and i don't know what is it.
it'd be great if some one could help me out.
