ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series support for VirtualBox 4.2.6

I have a Windows 7 Box with a ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series card.
The graphics support in VirtualBox for version 4.2.6 as hosted by Windows 7 is much improved, however I still cannot use 3D effects under Ubuntu 12.10.
Is this expected? And if so, what graphics hardware do I need? Is there a version of Radeon that is fully supported?

You install the guest additions (in the guest).
